The Sidewalk Chalk Art Festival returns to Forest Grove for its 35th year on Saturday, September 20th, 8 am - 4 pm. This popular community event is open to all ages and skill levels. Hundreds of sidewalk squares are decorated throughout downtown Forest Grove, many by multiple generations in families that have participated across 4 decades. Everyone is encouraged to participate and stroll through the streets to see each square come to life, while enjoying entertainment and community involvement. $20 buys an assigned sidewalk square and 48 pieces of chalk. The festival is supported by sponsorships from local businesses, Public Arts Commission, City of Forest Grove, and the sale of sidewalk squares from participants. Proceeds fund Valley Art's mission, scholarships for high school students pursuing art in college. Individuals who wish to take classes at Valley Art may apply for scholarships to help with class fees. This festival is the longest running event of its kind in Oregon and is hosted by Valley Art Association.
