Oregon State University undergrad Jayshaun Talbert was collecting evidence for his research on birds flying to their death into windows when he got a call last spring. Friends eating at a campus dining hall witnessed a Cooper’s hawk, confused that it had a clear path, collide full force into the building’s glass wall.
