The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory at 2:54 a.m. on Wednesday valid from 4 p.m. until Thursday 10 p.m. for East Portland Metro.

The weather service comments, "Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects such as garbage cans and other objects that can easily blow around. Those planning to venture outdoors should use common sense and dress warmly, making sure exposed skin is properly covered to prevent frostbite and/or hypothermia. Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside. Avoid being outdoors in wet conditions which can increase the risk of the body cooling down and becoming hypothermic."
