The Heceta Head Lighthouse, seen from a trail climbing to the crest of the headland at Heceta Head Lighthouse State Scenic Viewpoint on the central Oregon coast, has stopped shining its light on the Pacific Ocean.

The Heceta Head Lighthouse, long the brightest beacon on the Oregon coast, has gone dark, due to needed repairs to the complex gears that help rotate its antique lamp works.
