Firefighters in Rostraver Township, Pennsylvania, used hydraulic rescue equipment commonly known as the Jaws of Life to free a raccoon trapped beneath a storm drain grate before safely releasing it back into its natural habitat.

Firefighters in western Pennsylvania turned to a rescue tool normally used to free people trapped in wrecked vehicles when they responded to an unusual emergency involving a raccoon stuck in a storm drain grate, People reported. The animal was safely released after crews used hydraulic rescue equipment to create enough space for it to escape.
