At 6:54 p.m. on Saturday, the National Weather Service released a special weather statement until 9 p.m. for Eastern Columbia River Gorge of Oregon and Lower Columbia Basin of Oregon.
"Isolated strong winds of 30 to 40 mph accompanied by gusts of 40 to 50 mph have been observed in the eastern Columbia River Gorge. These winds are forecast to continue through evening in the eastern Columbia River Gorge as well as portions of the Simcoe Highlands and western areas of the lower Columbia Basin in Oregon. Motorists should be prepared for gusty westerly winds and cross winds. Travel may be difficult for high-profile vehicles," says the weather service.
