Description
The Ida B. Wells Guardians (0-0) travel to face the Clackamas Cavaliers (0-1) in a nonleague matchup on Friday night. The Cavaliers are looking to bounce back after a season opener that saw them fall 49-14 at Tualatin last week. Clackamas was led by its senior connection of quarterback Dylan Brower and receiver Justin Larsen. Brower completed 14 of 23 passes for 194 yards, including a 28-yard touchdown strike to Larsen, who finished with seven catches for 141 yards and added a two-yard rushing touchdown. The Guardians enter the season seeking a third consecutive Portland Interscholastic League title behind LB Asher Schliperpoort, OL/LB Roman Tubay, OL Sam Mahoney and LB Cam Shea. Clackamas hopes to repeat last year’s success against the Guardians as they secured a 27-16 road victory against a Wells team that finished 7-3 overall. Opening kickoff is set for 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET on Friday, September 5 with a live TV broadcast on NFHS Network.
