The Mountainside Mavericks (0-0) travel to Lake Oswego on Friday to face the Lakeridge Pacers (0-1) in a much-anticipated Week 1 nonleague matchup featuring two of Oregon’s premier high school signal-callers. The Pacers will be looking to bounce back after a narrow 26-21 defeat at Nelson last week, while Mountainside opens its season hoping to avenge last year’s 27-20 home loss to Lakeridge in Week 3. Both programs reached the 6A open quarterfinals last season behind the leadership of standout quarterbacks — Cade Mitchell for Mountainside and Drew Weiler for Lakeridge. Opening kickoff is set for 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET on Friday, September 5 with a live TV broadcast on NFHS Network.
