Description

The package delivery company announced last year that it would automate many operations to cut costs, increase efficiency and improve service.

UPS plans to temporarily shutter a large package processing facility on Portland’s Swan Island on July 1, closing it for months to automate much of the work at the site. The closure has UPS’ union workers fearing machines will take hundreds of their jobs.
