As expected, Oregon won its collegiate football opener for the 2025 season at Autzen Stadium, Eugene, Saturday, over visiting Montana State. The only question going in, was by how much? The final on a hot day in the Willamette Valley was 59-13. Oregon displayed a dominant team that led in all phases of the game. A local tidbit for Bay Area Sports fans, the Ducks went deep into the depth chart giving a lot of players opportunities to get on the field. One of the late players was former Sheldon of Eugene quarterback Brock Thomas (1-carry, 5-yards). His dad, Aaron Thomas (Thomas & Sons), played as a defensive back for the Ducks (85-89), but prior to that he was Marshfield’s quarterback/safety under the late Coach John Johnson. Oregon (1-0) hosts Oklahoma State (1-0) a 27-7 winner over UT Martin, Saturday, Sept. 6, 12:30 p.m., televised on CBS.

At Reser Stadium, Corvallis, Saturday night, the timing of the game by OSU officials help to beat the heat, but the California Golden Bears, coached by former Oregon Duck and Junction City HS player, Justin Wilcox, put up two quick touchdowns in the first quarter and really never looked back in a 34-15 for the Golden Bears. OSU rushed for 65-yards, while Cal tallied 122. The Beavers (0-1) host Fresno State, Saturday, Sept. 6, 12:30 p.m., televised on the CW. The Bulldogs (1-0) won their opener over visiting Georgia Southern Saturday night putting up 527-yards, 351-rushing.
