Right-wing social media influencer David Medina, center, takes pictures of the protests from the roof of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement building in South Portland on Oct. 7, the day Secretary Kristi Noem visited. The Oregonian/OregonLive has asked for the same access several times and gotten no response.

When U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem visited Portland last week to observe protests outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement building, it came with none of the advance notice to local press that typically accompanies such a visit.
