Description

Portlanders gather to swim and relax at Audrey McCall Beach on the Willamette River on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. Human Access Project, a nonprofit that's helping to reactivate the beach as a new recreation spot, is holding weekly events in July and August at the site -- complete with lifeguards, DJs and food trucks.

A Portland nonprofit that advocates for river access is seeking to reclaim a gritty eastside beach for the public in an area plagued by homeless encampments, occasional violent crime and a consistent debris field of trash.
