“The Trail Blazers have not acted like a team focused on a long-term lease,” said Carl Hirsh, a consultant tapped by the city for the Moda Center project. He has negotiated dozens of sports arena deals over the past four decades.

Just one week after Texas businessman Tom Dundon closed on a multi-billion dollar sale of the Trail Blazers in late March, the team stressed to Portland officials how vital it was to move quickly on a proposed $600 million makeover of the city-owned Moda Center.
