Chef Gregory Gourdet works with his team in the kitchen during service at Kann, his wood-fired Haitian restaurant at 548 S.E. Ash St. The restaurant will host a one-off coffee brunch on Sunday, Aug. 16, part of a packed schedule for food events in Portland this month.

A busy month for Portland food events kicks off this weekend, with special events from both Mei Lin, winner of “Top Chef” Season 12, and that season’s runner-up, three-time James Beard Award-winner Gregory Gourdet of Southeast Portland’s Kann. And that’s just the start of it.
