Description
Today, the Coos History Museum joins communities across the nation in honoring Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Today we celebrate the strength, culture, and contributions of Indigenous peoples, past, present, and future.
We honor the Confederated Tribes of the Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians, the Coquille Tribe, and the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians and their ancestral lands along the Oregon Coast.
We recognize the deep history of stewardship, resilience, and cultural traditions that have shaped this region since time immemorial and continue to do so today. On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, and every day, we commit ourselves to learning from, listening to, and uplifting Indigenous voices.
Although we are closed today, we invite our community to visit us tomorrow to view our exhibits, especially those created in collaboration with local tribes.
