TILLER, Ore. - Deputies and Search and Rescue crews are currently searching for a missing person considered to be at risk. 18-year-old Kayleigh Ann Procup is 5'06", 135 lbs, with red hair and hazel eyes. She was last known to be wearing a grey shirt and black leggings. She has two prosthetic legs, several missing fingers and a cleft palate. She speaks with a heavy lisp and is reported to be developmentally delayed, cognitively operating at a pre-teen level. Kayleigh left her residence on South Umpqua Road on foot at approximately 2:00 pm with a small white dog. She was possibly walking to a friend's house on Crume Ranch Lane in Tiller. At this time her whereabouts are unknown to family. Anyone with information is asked to call Douglas County Communications at (541) 440-4471 referencing case number 25-3392

Kayleigh left her residence on South Umpqua Road on foot at approximately 2:00 pm with a small white dog. She was possibly walking to a friend's house on Crume Ranch Lane in Tiller. At this time her whereabouts are unknown to family.

OFFICER SPARKS PRESENTED WITH LIFESAVING AWARD On Friday, November 7, 2025, Officer Joseph Sparks was presented with a Lifesaving Award (with valor) at the Oregon Peace Officers’ Association annual banquet at the Spirit Mountain Casino in Grand Ronde, OR. Officer Sparks was nominated for the award by Captain Thomas Lindahl, the Operations Captain of the Coos Bay Police Department, for his heroic actions February 21, 2025. Below is an excerpt from the nomination Captain Lindahl submitted to the OPOA: “On February 21, 2025, while on dayshift patrol, Officer Joseph Sparks demonstrated extraordinary initiative and heroism that directly resulted in saving a man’s life. At approximately 1312 hours, after clearing a previous call, Officer Sparks noticed a medical emergency in the dispatch queue. Although the Coos Bay Police Department does not typically respond to medical calls, Officer Sparks reviewed the call details and learned that an elderly male was choking on a sandwich. Officer Sparks arrived and began administering life-saving aid within three minutes of the initial 911 call—well before paramedics. His quick thinking, composure under pressure, and willingness to act outside the typical scope of duty were instrumental in preventing what would have likely been a fatal outcome. Officer Sparks’ selfless actions exemplify the highest standards of public service and reflect great credit upon himself and the Coos Bay Police Department. FAMILY FUN AT THE LIBRARY It’s the time of year when we all focus on family and the Coos Bay Public Library has lots of family activities to help you out! We have programs for patrons of all ages so check out our calendar for everything that’s going on! For our youngest patrons we have Storytimes, Art, and STEAM programs. Baby Storytime takes place every Tuesday from 10-10:30 a.m. Toddlers meet up on Wednesdays from 10-10:30 a.m. for their Storytime and preschool aged children have STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) time every Tuesday from 11-11:30 a.m. and preschool Art on November 20 from 10-11 a.m. Tweens have their very own club that meets on the third Friday of every month from 3-4:30 p.m. This month they will meet on the 21st and they will be making no-bake thanksgiving treats. Come hang out with other Tweens and enjoy drinks, snacks, and fun! Teens and adults are invited to Game Night on the 21st from 6-9 p.m. Bring your competitive spirit and we will provide games, drinks, and snacks! Last but not least, the whole family is invited to Family Trivia Night on Tuesday, November 25 from 4-6 p.m. Do you think your family has what it takes to win the prize and bragging rights? Come join us for the family battle royale. Each family will be given one table, and questions will range in difficulty and topics. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
