This week is Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week, a time dedicated to recognizing the hardworking professionals who protect animals and serve our communities. This team works tirelessly and often in challenging conditions to ensure the safety of both people and animals.

Our Animal Services Deputies (ASDs) do more than just enforce laws. They are first responders for animals in need, providing lifesaving care, rescuing the lost, preventing cruelty, and educating the public.

Meet our two animal services deputies:

After graduating from Toledo High School, Animal Services Deputy David Martin, served 22 years in the United States Air Force earning several accolades for his service. He joined our team in 2011 as an animal service deputy. When Dave is away from work, he enjoys the outdoors, practicing calligraphy, and can name any guitarist he hears. We have been told he is an excellent cook…but we are still waiting on some samples so we can confirm that information.

Animal Services Deputy Anthony Panousopoulos joined our team in late January 2025 after relocating from Arizona and moving to Oregon with his family. Anthony is a retired police officer with 20 years of service with Phoenix, AZ and former livestock officer for the Arizona Department of Agriculture. He enjoys outdoor activities and has been enjoying everything Oregon has to offer.Photos from Lincoln County Sheriff's Office - Oregon's post
