The arrival of the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1909 and a passenger train to Portland in 1926 vaulted Klamath Falls from an isolated settlement into a booming city.

A 195-mile segment of Amtrak’s Coast Starlight train offers one of the most scenic and steepest journeys in the United States, connecting Eugene with Klamath Falls through Oregon’s Cascade Range.
