π The Legend of Face Rock β A Coastal Tale Etched in Stone π
According to the Coquille Indian Tribe, the striking formation known as Face Rock holds a powerful story of bravery and defiance.
Ewauna, daughter of Chief Siskiyou, defied warnings and entered the sea, refusing to meet the gaze of the evil sea spirit Seatka, whose power lived in his eyes. As she stared toward the moon, Seatka tried to force her to look at himβand in that struggle, she was turned to stone.
Her face remains, forever watching the sea, a symbol of strength and spirit. Nearby rock formations are said to be her loyal cat and kittens, also frozen in time.
π Visit Face Rock State Scenic Viewpoint in Bandon, Oregon, and witness the legend carved by nature. It's more than a viewβitβs a story whispered by the waves.
