The City is updating its housing zoning code to comply with statutory mandates, facilitate housing production, affordability, and choice. Code amendments identified through the project are anticipated to reduce barriers to building a variety of housing types, particularly housing that is more likely to be affordable to the local workforce such as middle housing and multi-unit housing. Additionally, they will ensure the code is in compliance with key housing-related state statutes and administrative rules. The code update will also bring the City into compliance with state rules related to allowed housing type, development standards, permitting, and land divisions.
