The Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Legislative Action Committee recently conducted endorsement reviews with candidates for the Oregon House of Representatives in House Districts 1 and 9.

As a service to our members, the local business community, and the public, the Legislative Action Committee evaluates candidates from a business perspective. The review considers each candidate’s record in four key areas:

* Electability
* Leadership
* Support of BACC and local business issues
* Chamber and community involvement

All candidates were invited and given the opportunity to participate in the full review process. Following the interviews and review, the Legislative Action Committee made endorsement recommendations to the BACC Board of Directors based on the following categories:

1. **Endorsed:** The candidate meets the preferred criteria outlined in BACC’s endorsement policy, demonstrates a strong understanding of key business issues and concerns, and fully participates in the review process.

2. **Not Endorsed:** The candidate does not meet enough of the established criteria or demonstrate sufficient understanding of key business issues to receive BACC’s endorsement.

3. **Invited but Did Not Respond:** The candidate was invited to participate but did not respond or complete the required review process.

All BACC endorsements must receive approval from more than 50% of the voting directors. More than one candidate may be endorsed in the same race if each independently meets the established criteria.

During its August voting session, the BACC Board of Directors approved the Legislative Action Committee’s following recommendations for the 2026 General Election:

**Oregon House District 1**

Representative Court Boice — Endorsed
Bret Cecil — Not Endorsed

**Oregon House District 9**

Claire Lynn — Endorsed
John Ezra Scheirman — Invited but Did Not Respond
