The annual pond cleaning took place on April 18th. In the recent past, this monumental task was completed with park staff and two twenty man crews from Shutter Creek Correctional Facility. Now that it is closed, park staff along with local volunteers completed this much needed task. A recent storm brought one of the larger trees down on the supports for the Holiday Lights Leaping Frog. New supports were made by Friends of Shore Acres volunteer and board member Ray Daniels. Volunteers carefully brought each concrete support by hand cart into the historic pond and they were carefully lined up for next year’s Holiday Lights season. The old supports were repurposed to display water lily pots in the pond. Rangers cut up the downed tree and removed it from the pond area. It has now been refilled and ready for visitors to enjoy. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard on this project!Photos from Friends of Shore Acres's post
