Another school year has come and gone, which means it’s our favorite time of year at the library— the Summer Reading Program (SRP)! Our Youth Services Librarians have been hard at work for months lining up great performances, fun activities, and fabulous prizes to go with this year’s theme: Plant a Seed, Read! Using the Avatar Coder app, participants will create an animated dance sequence, visual effects, and interactive scenes while learning real computer science concepts such as sequencing, loops, variables, events, and problem solving. Students don’t just learn coding—they perform it! Young people in grades 3-6 are invited to sign up for the 2:30pm – 3:20pm class, while those in grades 7-12 are encouraged to sign up for a more advanced class from 3:30pm–4:20pm. At 6:30pm everyone is invited back to the library to watch the Rainbow Dance Theater and students perform using this amazing technology. At CBPL we love to clown around, and we’re thrilled to invite kids of all ages to join us for Mz. Pearl’s Circus Palooza traveling show from 2:00pm–3:00pm on Tuesday, June 30.
