Douglas Co. SO release - GARDINER, Ore. – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Response Team served a warrant at a residence in Gardiner on Monday, resulting in the arrest of a man wanted in connection to a hit and run in Eugene, which left a pedestrian seriously injured.  On Monday, September 21, 2026, detectives with the Eugene Police department obtained a search warrant for the arrest of 47-year-old Dallas Lee Silva of Eugene. Silva is a suspect in a hit and run incident that took place on July 4, 2026, on River Road near Beacon Drive.  Eugene detectives confirmed Silva was at a residence in the 800-block of 2nd Street in Gardiner and requested assistance from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Response Team (TRT).  Upon the arrival of TRT, Silva ran out the back of the residence, eventually turning back to run back into the residence where he refused to surrender. After numerous opportunities to surrender, gas was introduced into the residence. Silva began speaking with negotiators and eventually agreed to exit the residence through a window.  Silva was taken into custody and turned over to Detectives from the Eugene Police Department.  The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Eugene and Reedsport Police Departments.
