Description

Spring is still days away, but Portland’s plant life is already emerging from dormancy. On Monday, March 17, 2025, in Southeast Portland’s Foster-Powell neighborhood, new growth pushed through damp soil as cherry blossoms unfurled and daffodils bloomed across the city. The days are growing longer, and occasional breaks in the cloud cover are providing just enough sunlight to fuel the seasonal shift.

Portland rang in the first official weekend of summer in a very Pacific Northwest fashion -- with cool temperatures and plenty of rain. Almost .9 inches of rain fell at the Portland Airport on both Friday and Saturday.
