CBPL release - Hear stories from the South Coast with master storyteller Patricia Whereat Phillips Wednesday, November 27 at 10:00am at the Coos Bay Public Library. Whereat Phillips (Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians) will tell traditional Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw stories. The program is free and open to the public. Whereat Phillips is the Tribal Linguist for CTCLUSI and teaches Native languages (hanis, miluk and sha’yuushtɬ’a uɬ quuiich) A graduate of the University of Oregon's Linguistic Program (MA, 1996), she is also the author of Ethnobotany of the Coos, Lower Umpqua, and Siuslaw Indians (Oregon State University Press, 2016).
