Excerpt from City Administrator's report to the City Council - The North Bend Public Library is now lending Oregon State Parks day-use parking permits. Passes may be checked out with a Coastline library card for a one-week loan period and must be checked out from and returned directly to the North Bend Public Library. The permit covers parking for one vehicle at Oregon State Parks day-use areas statewide. The program is a partnership between the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department and the State Library of Oregon to expand access to Oregon’s state parks through public libraries. There are currently 200 permits available at 82 libraries across the state, with each participating library receiving up to four permits. The program was developed to make Oregon’s state parks more accessible and affordable for residents. The State Library purchased permits using Library Services and Technology Act funding from the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services. (North Bend Strategic Plan: Economic Development).
