ODFW release, Sept. 8, 2026 - The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) in consultation with the Pacific Fishery Management Council (PFMC), the States of Oregon and California, and advisory body members met Tuesday and have taken the following in-season management actions related to the commercial ocean troll salmon seasons from Cape Falcon to Humbug Mountain, Oregon:  ACTION TAKEN:  Effective 12:01 AM Thursday September 10, 2026, the landing limit in the ocean commercial troll salmon fishery in the area from Cape Falcon to Humbug Mountain is reduced to 50 coho per vessel per week (Thursday through Wednesday).  RATIONALE:  The current estimates are that approximately 50% of the 7,000 coho quota remains available. The reduction in the landing limit was made to facilitate continued access to the coho while also ensuring that the quota is not exceeded. There are no changes to the weekly limit of 100 Chinook per vessel.  It is recommended that fishery participants that have not done so, should deliver prior to the start of the upcoming landing week beginning on Thursday, September 10 to avoid being in possession of coho in excess of revised landing limit and to allow full landing limits in the September 10th to 16th landing week. For Chinook and coho to be accounted for in the current Thursday-Wednesday landing week (September 3-9), they must be sold to an open buyer before Thursday, September 10. Please consider your preferred buyer’s schedule Wednesday, September 9 as it may affect your ability to complete delivery.  Fishery participants are reminded that vessels landing salmon into Oregon in any quota managed fishery north or south of Cape Falcon are required to notify ODFW at least one hour prior to landing by either calling 541-857-2546 or sending notification via email to [email protected].  Notification shall include vessel name and number, number of salmon by species, port of landing, location of delivery, and estimated time of delivery.  Additional regulations that apply to the 2026 seasons include:  • Within 24 hours of any closure of the fishery vessels must land and deliver their salmon.  • Vessels landing into Oregon must possess a valid commercial license and a valid troll salmon permit.  Visit https://www.dfw.state.or.us/MRP/salmon/ for more information on Oregon's ocean salmon seasons and fisheries.
