Description

At South Coast Humane Society, we’ve become a trusted lifeline in the rescue community—an anchor for animals in need and the people who fight to save them. Every day, we receive calls, messages, and pleas for help from across the region. While we can’t save them all, we step up for as many as we possibly can, giving second chances to animals who’ve been through unimaginable hardships. Our commitment is relentless, our network strong, and our compassion unshakable.
Just two weeks ago, we were contacted about Shadow, a gentle Mastiff who had been living under a burned-out trailer in Bakersfield after tragically losing his owner in the fire. Despite being covered in ticks and suffering from a severe ear infection, this boy greeted the world with pure sweetness. A caring foster kept him safe while our master transporter, Richard, made the long trip to bring him to safety this past Saturday. Shadow is now resting comfortably at SCHS At around 80 pounds, he could use a few extra meals, but his spirit is full. He’ll be available for adoption this weekend after his neuter, and judging by how he snuggled right into bed with his foster family, he’s more than ready for a home of his own.
