Description

SSI payments will be issued on Thursday, Oct. 1 and then again on Friday, Oct. 30 because Nov. 1 falls on a Sunday. This means – at least technically – SSI recipients will get two October payments and none in November.

Social Security’s payment schedule will undergo significant changes for the remainder of 2026 and it all has to do with the calendar.

9/30/26 - LCSO SAR stays busy with calls near water over the last two nights October may almost be here, but with this nice weather our Lane County Sheriff Search and Rescue (SAR) personnel have stayed busy. Over the last two nights SAR has deployed to help rescue Lane County residents near our waterways. On September 28th, SAR responded to the Willamette River near Hileman landing to rescue two adults. They became lost and were stuck on an island after being attacked by wasps. SAR volunteers deployed a rescue sled to bring both safely back to shore. Because of their location it took several hours to complete the rescue. On September 29th, SAR along with LCSO deputies responded to the area of Shady Rest and Perkins Peninsula for an adult whose kayak had sprung a leak. A drone was also deployed to locate the subject. Thankfully in this instance, the individual was able to make it home safely on their own as volunteers began searching the area. The Lane County Sheriff’s Office wants everyone to recreate safely, so please remember: ⛰️ Always tell someone where you are going and when you plan to return. 🌨️ Know conditions before you leave - rain in the valley can mean ice up high! ⛺ Be prepared to stay out overnight - even if you don't plan to get out of your car. 🗺️ Bring maps for offline navigation - cell service can be spotty! 🌊 If you go on the water, ALWAYS wear a life jacket! 🛑 If you become lost, STAY PUT! Find a way to signal or make your location visible. Always carry a whistle and flashlight in the outdoors – it just might save your life.Photos from Lane County Sheriff's Office's post
