Scientists say 2026 is increasingly likely to challenge the record for the hottest year ever measured as climate change and a rapidly strengthening El Niño combine to drive extreme heat, widespread wildfires and unusually warm oceans across the globe. While 2026 has not yet surpassed previous records, climate researchers say the odds have risen sharply in recent months, and many expect next year could be even warmer, Tech Times reports.
