A 34-year-old Salem man has been sentenced to 16 years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter, sexual abuse and driving under the influence, among other charges.
On March 23, 2025, Christopher Jordan Atkinson was driving on Fern Ridge Road SE outside Salem, with four underage passengers, when he lost control of his Mercedes sedan, the Marion County District Attorney’s Office said. The car “skidded off the road and flipped upside down,” killing a 16-year-old girl in the back seat. A 12-year-old in the car sustained “significant injuries.”
