Description

An aerial view of the Portland metro-area includes the Ross Island lagoon on the Willamette River. State regulators will require the lagoon owner, Ross Island Sand & Gravel, to test the water quality and mechanically skim the lagoon surface for harmful cyanobacteria.

Oregon’s environmental regulators have released proposed requirements to monitor the Ross Island lagoon for toxic algal blooms and stop their spread to the rest of the Willamette River.
