Voters in Portland Public Schools appeared to have elected four women, all with children currently in the district, to the school board, including one who ousted an incumbent.
Virginia La Forte, a marketing and communications strategist, won election to the Portland School Board on Tuesday.
Seven candidates vied for four seats on the board which oversees the fourth largest school district in Oregon.
Incumbent Board Chair Karen Pérez-Da Silva was reelected.
Portland Public Schools’ proposed $1.83 billion bond would rebuild or modernize three high schools and carry out seismic retrofits and other upgrades at aging middle and elementary schools.
The bond would pay for renovations, a school building replacement and other maintenance across the 11,000-student district.
It would be the seventh time in a row that voters have rejected a bond request from the Gresham college.
Check your numbers to see if you hit it big in Tuesday's jackpot.
