City of Coos Bay release - November 1, 2025, marks the 20-year anniversary for Detective Mark Wheeling as a Police Officer for the City of Coos Bay. During his time with the department, Detective Wheeling, a Reedsport grad, has held numerous roles and responsibilities, including Patrol Officer, Watch Commander, Field Training Officer, and School Resource Officer.  Additionally, Detective Wheeling is currently a member of the Coos County Major Crimes Team.  Detective Wheeling has a bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University and holds his Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced certificates through the Department of Public Safety, Standards, and Training.  Detective Wheeling’s 20 years of service are a credit to himself and his commitment to the Coos Bay Police Department.  Please join us in congratulating and thanking Detective Mark Wheeling for his 20 years of dedicated service to the City of Coos Bay, the Coos Bay Police Department, as well as the citizens and visitors of Coos Bay!
