I find it wildly ironic that President Donald Trump is threatening to use the Insurrection Act against a handful of mostly peaceful protesters outside Portland’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in South Waterfront, yet during his first term Trump did little to nothing to stop the massive and violent mob takeover of the United States Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021, (“Why Trump could still send troops to Portland, no matter what appeals court says,” Oct. 10).
