Description
At one time Oregon had several hundred thousand acres of old growth forests that provided habitat for animals and plants, clean water, biological diversity and carbon sequestration. Today, following decades of logging, 6% of old growth stands remain in our state forests. This is less than 50,000 acres out of over 600,000 acres of state forestland managed by the Oregon Department of Forestry. Please write or call Gov. Tina Kotek to ask for protection of what is left. With the governor’s backing, the ODF can manage the remaining old growth for perpetuity in order to benefit future generations, along with the wildlife which relies on old growth habitat for its survival.
