I applaud The Oregonian/OregonLive for its clean slate program and say congratulations to the letter writer and his wife referenced in Editor Therese Bottomly’s recent column, (“Letter from the Editor: Heartfelt request for clean slate underscores why we offer program,” Nov. 17). He has the ability to write a compelling letter. Not all people in his situation have this gift. I hope that those who do not are able to have access to another person who can help them. It pays to have talent, or an attractive face, because society finds people with these gifts to be more acceptable.
