The 47th president believes he is a king rather than an elected official with power limited by the U.S. Constitution, (“As Trump vows to end vote by mail, some Oregon politicians push back,” Aug. 18). President Donald Trump’s latest fever dream is that he can end voting by mail, which has been used in Oregon since 1998. Trump and his followers seem unfamiliar with the Constitution’s elections clause, which gives states the power to regulate elections, and gives Congress the power to make or alter those regulations. The Constitution does not give the executive branch any authority to determine where and how citizens cast their ballots.
