A recent report shows that it’s taking Portland Police 20 minutes to get to the scene of high priority 911 calls, such as break-ins, assaults, rapes and gun attacks, (“We are failing in many areas’: Portland police report finds response times average 20 minutes,” June 26). This a crisis that our mayor and city councilors are treating like a budget issue. Our police are overworked and understaffed, period.
