Mike Rogoway is right to ask how Oregon became so expensive, (“How did Oregon become one of the most expensive places to live?” Aug. 30). But the answer is not simply that housing demand outpaced supply. That framing assumes Oregon must pursue and accommodate population increase. It does not.
