I’m a senior who rides TriMet almost every day, and I want to encourage more Portlanders to give our transit system another look, (“Portland’s transit exodus: Where did 30 million TriMet riders disappear to?” May 10). From my Southeast home, I’m surrounded by four bus lines – the 10, 70, FX2 and 9 – each within a short walk. They connect me to most of the city quickly and reliably. No, it can’t get me everywhere easily. Going from Southeast Portland to Northwest Portland still requires patience. But for any trip headed to downtown, Northeast Portland or South Portland, TriMet is remarkably fast and consistently dependable.
