Anyone who has walked their kids to school, driven to work, or biked to a park lately knows that Portland’s roads are in miserable shape, (“Editorial endorsement May 2024: Vote ‘yes’ on extending Portland’s gas tax,” April 28). Our communities suffer from a systemic disinvestment in our transportation system, most notably in the soaring traffic fatality epidemic that continues to disproportionately harm our most vulnerable neighbors.
