Description

Two recent stories about the welfare of children point to serious failures in Oregon’s child welfare system. One is about Grace, a young woman who had experienced abuse, neglect and sex trafficking as a child in the foster care system, (“Oregon teen repeatedly sex trafficked. How the foster system failed her,” Nov. 11). The other recounts how our state spent $23 million on legal fees defending and then settling a class action lawsuit over the protection of children in foster care, (“Oregon spent $23M on legal fees to defend state foster care system before reaching settlement,” Nov. 13).
