Description

Oregon lawmakers have an opportunity this session to correct a serious flaw in our tax code by passing Senate Bill 1507, (“Oregon Democrats unveil plan to close Trump tax ‘loopholes’, reduce budget deficit,” Feb. 2). When Congress enacted Trump’s tax and spending law, it radically reshaped Oregon’s tax structure overnight. Because Oregon is tied to the federal tax code, these sweeping federal changes automatically triggered hundreds of millions of dollars in state revenue losses — without a single hearing, without public input, and without any debate about the consequences for Oregon’s budget.
