The recent article on a potential monthly fee to fix Portland’s streets highlights a desperate need for sustainable funding, (“Portland could charge you a monthly fee to help fix its ‘deplorable’ streets,” March 8). However, before we add another flat fee to every household, we should look at a more equitable model: a weight-based vehicle registration fee.
