Portland’s local leaders need to send a clear message opposing President Donald Trump’s illegal war for oil in Venezuela, (“US plans to ‘run’ Venezuela and tap its oil reserves, Trump says, after operation to oust Maduro,” Jan. 3). The most effective way to do that is not through symbolic resolutions, but by leading on transportation policy that no longer forces Portlanders to rely on oil.
