Description
I have been heartened by the cooperation and collaboration between the city and Multnomah County led by the mayor and county chair. I have been more heartened by their willingness to set specific goals, timelines and strategies to reduce unsheltered homelessness which had never been done before. The city and county jointly agreed to house and shelter an additional 2700 people in the next 14 months, half of our unsheltered neighbors. They have pledged to add 1000 new beds in the next year and have already opened or will soon be opening many of them. They have launched new day services and have created a public dashboard to track progress.
