Description
Oregon’s nurses provide care guided by a code of ethics, with the priority being the advocacy for patients’ health and safety. Therefore, we are compelled to oppose the nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as the next secretary of Health and Human Services. In addition to Kennedy’s controversial stances, such as opposing vaccines, advocating for cuts to National Institutes of Health funding, and seeking to remove fluoride from water, all of which would harm public health, it has been widely reported that he sexually assaulted his 23-year-old nanny. When asked to comment on his actions, Kennedy said he was “not a church boy … I have so many skeletons in my closet.”
