Every U.S. paper and online news source I’ve looked at refers to the new pope as an American, which confuses me, (“Pope Leo XIV: Robert Prevost makes history as first American pope,” May 8). He’s a U.S. citizen, but he chose to obtain Peruvian citizenship and spent almost 20 years there. That citizenship matters too.
